Moda Blockheads BOW #18

Moda Blockheads Block #18 is called Rocky Mountain Puzzle by Carrie Nelson.  I love patterns that let me showcase a certain block and this one is perfect for my fat chicken. It was quick and easy but looks difficult. I can see making this block into a large quilt.

This BOW is perfect for anyone wanting to learn different techniques, join a fun group, and to end up with a lovely quilt. You are welcome to join us at the Moda Blockheads Facebook group or Moda Fabrics. I am always amazed at the different varieties and color combinations that come from one pattern.

I am a retired grandmother living in hot and sunny Florida. I spend most of my days doing what I love: sewing and quilting. I have a spoiled rotten Boston Terrier named Sami who keeps me busy mostly by cleaning up after her and refilling holes in the yard that she insists on digging and burying her toys. Of course then she digs them up and brings them into the house resulting guessed it...more cleaning. I will be posting pictures of Sami, quilts, flowers, and other things as they come along. Glad to have you join me.

  1. I love the fat chicken and the burnt orange paisley. You are going to make me fall in love with fall colors yet! I definitely think it is time to give us a photo withe the finished blocks!!

  2. I love the chicken! You’re right about blocks that showcase an element of a particularly lovely fabric, the one you did a few weeks ago with a tree in the centre was great too.

    1. Thank you Lynsey. I probably would never branch out and try fussy cutting blocks as I am a pretty boring quilter-I like to stay inside the lines (in my old life I was an accountant) but these BOW are fun and getting me out of my shell. LOL

  3. Hi Peggy – I love this block! It is the perfect block for your chicken, and I love the colors together. This means I’m only 18 blocks behind . . . if I get my act in gear. It could happen – maybe. ~smile~ Roseanne
