Grandma’s Kitchen (almost) Finished

Grandma’s Kitchen quilt is all pieced and ready for quilting. It was difficult to get a picture as it is 80″x100″. The picture looks like two different quilts but it isn’t, it is just the angle. I added white sashing between the rows and both white and blue floral borders all around.

Grandma’s Kitchen at I Love To Make Quilts

Thanks for visiting with us.

I am a retired grandmother living in hot and sunny Florida. I spend most of my days doing what I love: sewing and quilting. I have a spoiled rotten Boston Terrier named Sami who keeps me busy mostly by cleaning up after her and refilling holes in the yard that she insists on digging and burying her toys. Of course then she digs them up and brings them into the house resulting guessed it...more cleaning. I will be posting pictures of Sami, quilts, flowers, and other things as they come along. Glad to have you join me.

  1. Congratulations on this BIG finish!!! The colors you chose are so soft and pleasing and the finished quilt top is BEAUTIFUL!!! You must have “stayed up all night” the last couple of nights to get this done. I am “still holding” on block 16 or so….can’t get near the sewing room yet. Again, big congratulations!!!!

  2. Hi Peggy,
All your blocks came together SO well! I am not surprised at all, and I sure love how all the fabrics compliment each other. That is a pretty darn big quilt, isn’t it?! Much bigger than I thought it would be, but then mine won’t be that large. I didn’t complete the last five blocks. Can’t wait to see it all quilted with Sami lounging on it. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thanks Roseanne. I added sashings and extra borders to make it larger. Not so sure that was a good idea now but I am glad that part is done. Sami is so interested in her Christmas tree cushion she is leaving the quilt alone. Unfortunately that will not last long. She has a limited attention span…just like her momma. 🙂

  3. Love it, and I love that extra blue border as final edge, finishes it off perfectly. I am going to endeavour to do mine the QAYG way that Pat is going to do so will see how that goes. I am putting together D row now.

      1. I have the class Pat Sloan talks about but can’t quite see how its down so really interested. i have done block by block before but this sounds far better the way Marti Michell does it. I’ll have to wait to Pat starts it in Jan and see how I go.

    1. Thank you. I am planning on scanning a few pictures of Mammaw Cooper and Ma Neal to add when I complete the quilting for the finale. My kids have never seen them and now that I’m sick they will have a record of them.
